Literature Text

It's not that uncommon.
Twenty-four hours brings a new dawn,
a new day,
a new chance to make things right,
to change.
Where are the crowds of people,
faces upturned, red from cold,
in February? Late October?
What makes tonight different?

(Glitter, people, glitter
don't let your spirits down.
It's a new morning,
a new day –
set things right.)

A new day.
That's all a change of year is.

(I resolve to love the world this year,
and so far,
so far,
I'm doing fine.
I'm soaring.
I'm burning like the fireworks over your heads.
Let me toast you with all I have,
with all I am –
you with your glitter and cheer –
let me see you hoping.
Let me read your hearts.
I love you for your laughter.)

We've birthed today –
claimed it –
formed it in our brightest image.
This is our time, and so
I love you for that too.
I think
it's going to be a good year.
So –
I'm ready.
I love you.
Let's go.
I wrote this last year and it sounds better than "In, 2013," so I'm not going to change the title -- but it works just as well for this year as it did for last. So up it goes! :D

Here's to a good year!

I like the extravagant use of the word glitter and you did a nice job with the two-speaker thingy. Also, your voice is very well heard in this poem. Nicely done!
Happy New Year! Resolve to me nicer to me this year as well. Screw the rest of the world. (:
